BROKEN CLUTCH WITHDRAWAL COLLAR OILER TUBE

On the Drive It Day run we went over some rather bumpy roads and eventually there was an ominous clicking and banging coming from under our feet.  Arriving at the pub, many willing hands tried to find the fault and it was soon correctly diagnosed as the oiler tube down to the clutch withdrawal collar in the bell housing which had broken off and fallen into the bell housing beside the flywheel.  On the way home, the clicking and banging got less and less as the little copper tube slowly got eaten by the big bad flywheel. Having a rummage around later in the week, no remains of the tube was to be found so a replacement had to be found.

Reluctant to take the engine and gearbox out to do a ‘proper job’, I utilised a simple rubber tube which went over the protuberance on the collar and poked out of the hole at the top.  Obviously not to be left in the car but as a simple push fit down onto the collar it’ll do nicely for now.

I had a suitable piece of rubber pipe in my gash box and here are the dimensions I used, drilling out the 13mm end with my Black & Decker drill; and how it fitted on an old gearbox:
