AUSTIN SEVEN SILENT BLOCK REMOVAL (From chassis 251810, Oct 1936)

Working beneath the car it proved difficult to push the old one out of the mount. In the end I cut the outer tube element of the bush by assembling a hacksaw through it and taking care to stop cutting before damaging the mount casting itself. It then tapped out quite easily. By grinding a very slight taper start on the new bush, it was quite simple to tap it home using a suitable size socket as a drift. It has stopped all the banging on take-up and the normal whining from the back axle is greatly reduced.  Jon Reynolds (DA7C)
